CHILDREN LEARN BY WATCHING US

Long before children fully understand instructions, they study the people around them.

They notice how adults speak, respond to frustration, treat others, and make everyday choices.

By observing and imitating these behaviors, children develop habits, social skills, and ideas about

what is acceptable.

This powerful form of learning can have both positive and negative effects. When children regularly see anger, dishonesty, disrespect, or unhealthy habits, they may begin to repeat them. But when they witness patience, honesty, responsibility, and kindness, those qualities can become part of their own behavior.

For this reason, adults must recognize the influence of their example. Calmly managing emotions teaches self-control. Listening with empathy demonstrates respect. Keeping promises builds trust, and making healthy choices shows the value of caring for oneself. No adult behaves perfectly, but acknowledging mistakes and making amends can teach children accountability and resilience.

During periods of uncertainty and disruption, adults should remain mindful of how they manage their emotions in the presence of children, who often model the behavior they observe. Regardless of the circumstances, children need consistent reassurance that they are loved, that their well-being remains a priority, and that trusted adults willcontinue to provide guidance, stability, and protection.

Children may hear what adults say, but they are often shaped most deeply by what adults do. By modeling the values, we hope to see, we give children a strong foundation for becoming thoughtful, responsible, and compassionate people.
